Algorithm reads: "IF notice pain or displeasure reaction, THEN repeat. IF notice pleasure reaction, THEN cease. IF notice neutral reaction, THEN"... What??? Pause? Repeat? Cease? "Repeats" lead to more "reactions" which lead to inceased quantities of "repeats." Users blame the algorithm. But... Who programmed it and who could then erase it? FIND solutions. Blaming that which has not any control of itself (algorithm) is not the final solution; but, could show the way to find it. Finding it is not the final solution. It is a step toward it. Are we falling short of the next step? Are we failing to carry through with removing harmful algorithms? That requires action. Wearing VR/AR while seeking solutions in our day to day algorithm use???
